In 2021, Indian born composer, producer and guitarist Samir Bodhi became a celebrated new age/world fusion artist with the release of Stairway to Nirvana: A Musical Journey to Awakening, his dynamic, spiritually inspirational debut EP which hit #4 on the ZMR Top 100 radio chart, earned a Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) nomination and won Best of Asia at the 2022 InterContinental Music Awards. The musical visionary’s second album Memories of Empathy is driven by his belief that the gap between the haves and have nots is widening and that people’s self-absorption is reducing human empathy to a distant memory. Building on the EP’s richly textured, East meets West sonic and rhythmic aesthetic, the collection features three tracks co-produced by guitarist/bassist Sanjoy Das and three by American multi-instrumentalist David Vito Gregoli. Two songs (“Haves and Have Nots,” “Affinity”) are rooted in Indian ragas, while the shloka at the beginning of “Indifference” is based on the gayatri mantra. The lush, atmospheric Western influenced closing song “World of Empathy” features legendary Indian film composer and keyboardist and “Godfather of Indian jazz” Louis Banks.
In The Making...
Emotions Never Do Rest As They Have A Profound Purpose In Life Perennially
Subtle emotions add a heavenly charm to human existence, bereft of which life could be stale and unwelcoming. The feeling of comradeship is a product of empathy that can make the world a better place to live in if practiced widely and intensely. Imagine a world where every being feels connected and belonging to each other. Samir Bodhi’s new album ‘Memories of Empathy’ might be visualizing a new world order where you and I will feel the wide world an extension of our own beloved home where each one lives for the other and all of them live for God...
